Privacy Notice (POPIA)
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable laws. This Privacy Notice explains what information we collect when you use the Learn With Me App and website, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
Learn With Me is owned and operated by Gudani Growth Hub (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). For the purposes of POPIA, we act as the “responsible party” for the personal information we collect and use in connection with the App and this website.
2. What information we collect
We collect and process the following types of information:
2.1 Parent account information
- Email address and sign-in method (e.g. email/password or Google sign-in);
- Basic account metadata, such as registration date and last activity time;
- Settings and preferences related to the App.
2.2 Child profile and learning information
Parents or legal guardians create and manage child profiles in the App. Information stored for each profile may include:
- Child profile nickname and chosen avatar or icon;
- Game progress, stars, scores, and levels completed;
- Gameplay logs and learning telemetry (for example, which questions were answered correctly, time taken, and attempts used).
We encourage parents to use a nickname instead of a full real name for the child profile.
2.3 Technical and usage information
- Device information such as type of device and version of the App;
- Approximate location (for example, country) based on network information;
- Diagnostic and performance data, such as error logs and crash reports;
- Aggregate usage data, such as how often the App is opened and which games are played.
2.4 Website forms and communication
If you submit a contact or interest form on this website, we may collect:
- Your name, email address and role (e.g. parent, teacher, school or NGO representative);
- School or organisation name (if provided);
- WhatsApp number (if provided);
- Any information you include in the message field.
We also log basic form metadata (for example date and time of submission) and may use tools such as reCAPTCHA to help detect and prevent spam.
3. Why we process your information
We process personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide the App and its features – including sign-in, child profiles, progress tracking and rewards;
- To personalise learning – for example adjusting difficulty and tracking progress over time;
- To maintain and improve the App – including fixing bugs, improving performance and understanding which features are most used;
- To communicate with you – such as responding to support queries, pilot requests or sending important service updates;
- To comply with legal obligations – including POPIA and other applicable legislation.
4. Legal basis under POPIA
Under POPIA, we process personal information on the basis that it is:
- Necessary to carry out the actions and functions related to your use of the App;
- Done with your consent where required (for example when you submit a form or sign up for communication);
- Reasonably required to pursue our legitimate interests in providing and improving a safe and effective learning tool for children;
- Necessary for compliance with legal obligations that apply to us.
5. Storage, security and retention
Data is stored securely using modern cloud infrastructure, including services such as Firebase / Google Cloud. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including:
- Secure sign-in mechanisms (for example Google sign-in or email/password);
- Restricted access to production systems on a need-to-know basis;
- Secure communication channels (such as HTTPS) where appropriate.
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Notice or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we aim to delete it or de-identify it within a reasonable time.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: With trusted service providers (for example Firebase / Google Cloud) who help us operate the App and website. These providers are bound by appropriate contractual and confidentiality obligations.
- Legal obligations: Where we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order or lawful request from authorities.
- Business changes: If we are involved in a reorganisation, merger or similar event, we may need to transfer information as part of that process. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your rights continue to be protected.
7. Children’s information
Learn With Me is designed for use by children under the guidance of a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians control the account, sign in, and create child profiles.
We do not intentionally collect personal information directly from children without parental involvement. Game data, such as scores and progress, is linked to the child profile created by the parent or guardian.
If you believe that we may have collected personal information directly from a child without appropriate consent, please contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate steps.
8. Your rights under POPIA
Under POPIA, parents and legal guardians generally have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about them and their child profiles;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion of personal information in certain circumstances, for example where it is no longer needed;
- Object to certain types of processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (this may affect App functionality);
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator in South Africa if they are unhappy with how we handle personal information.
To exercise these rights or to submit a POPIA-related request, please contact us using the details in section 10 below. We may need to verify your identity as the account holder before acting on a request.
9. International transfers
Because we use cloud services such as Firebase / Google Cloud, personal information may be stored or processed on servers located outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure that any such transfers comply with POPIA and that your information is protected by appropriate safeguards.

We encourage you to review this Notice periodically so that you stay informed about how your information is used and protected.
